Photographer agreement
You own your work
Uploading grants ClipYA a non-exclusive license to host, watermark, display and sell your images on the terms you set. It transfers no copyright — you can sell the same frames anywhere else, and remove them from sale on ClipYA whenever you like.
Uploading also grants ClipYA a perpetual, royalty-free license to use any of your uploads in ClipYA's own marketing and advertising, in any medium, credited to your handle where the format allows. That license survives removal for material already produced or running.
Revenue
You set the price on every clip. ClipYA retains a platform fee of 15% of the sale price; you receive the rest. That fee covers payment processing, storage, watermarking, delivery and the paywall infrastructure.
Payouts
Payouts run through Stripe Connect. Connect from Studio → Payouts; Stripe verifies your identity and bank details. Your share of each sale is transferred to your Stripe balance as soon as the payment clears, and paid to your bank daily, weekly (Fridays) or monthly (the 1st) — you choose in Studio.
Sales made before you finish Stripe setup are held against your account and released automatically the moment Stripe marks you payable. If a buyer is refunded, your share of that sale is reversed. Suspended accounts are not paid out while an infringement investigation is open.
Removing images
Deleting a clip removes it from sale and from the site. Anyone who already bought a license keeps it, which is a condition of taking their money.
Tags
Approving a tag puts your photograph on a surfer's profile, credited to you and linked back to your gallery. It is the single most effective distribution mechanism on the platform. Approving quickly is in your interest.
Metadata
Fill in the break, region, date and time of day accurately. Search runs on these fields — a clip with a vague location is a clip nobody finds. Adding coordinates puts your break on the globe.
What we will not do
We will not sell your images outside the licenses you have set, license them to another brand for that brand's advertising, use them to train machine learning models, or supply an unwatermarked file to anyone who has not paid for it. Using them to promote ClipYA itself is covered above.
Infringement
Upload only what you shot or hold the rights to. A report of infringement that we uphold takes the clip down and records a strike; strikes stay active for 12 months. Three active strikes suspends the account automatically — every clip is unpublished and held payouts stop. Appeals to nick@getclipya.com.
Ending the agreement
Delete your account whenever you want. We will give thirty days' notice before any change to the platform fee, and you can leave in that window with no penalty.
